As I promise my parents to buy them a new DC (I took the old A620)
as their mother & father days present, they eventually choose Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3,
sigh, LX3 is much better, keep convincing them but they don’t like it….

price more or less the same, just the difference on 12x Zoom and PASM … i think PASM is more important, indeed, as you said, family members only wanna: open, zoom, shot

DC with PASM seems not very useful because the outcome of the setting does not have big difference (when compared to DSLR)

recently i have bought a LX3 la~
it is a great camera which can allow you to take very very wide angle photos with its 24mm lens
Mr.R: LX3 also can regard as DV, just 2.5x zoom Dv
